In the spirit of trying to put more of my thoughts down on paper, I’m going to start a series of posts related to math in education, particularly as it applies in Montessori. I want to chew on the question of “why teach math?” and relate answers to specific practices and materials in the Montessori curriculum. I’m working on bettering my understanding of the potential impact a math curriculum can have and how the Montessori curriculum might allow a guide to fulfill this potential. My plan is to put something out weekly. Stay tuned!
Edit: I recently enrolled in a philosophy/writing course and most of my writing time will be going towards that. In other words, weekly posts is likely overly optimistic at this point.
